Beer for Chicks

So, I found myself avoiding my 'to-do' list as I set up a photo shoot for me and my beer last night. I'll admit, I felt a bit self-conscious, and maybe even a bit vain in doing so, but it got me thinking... "What's in your refrigerator?" Why do I have the beer that I have on hand? Is it what's left over after a BBQ? Is it because I can't get myself to actually drink it? Or is it because I can't live without it? I will tell you... while I hate to admit this, I find that I have a HUGE need for the cans, yes, CANS, of bud light that are stocked in my fridge after a recent camping trip. It's not the same need that I have for the bottles of Anchor Steam, but just as important.
I pop open a can of this ice-cold-strangely-watery brew and all of the sudden I'm on a beach somewhere, on a hot sunny day, too young to appreciate beer, yet realizing that it's the only thing that completes the picture... the only thing that makes sense. Bud Light... in a can. To this day, an ice-cold CAN of bud light is sometimes the only thing that quenches that certain thirst. Now, whether that thirst is to feel underage again, is irrelevant. The point is, there's a reason it's in my fridge. What's in yours?

Right now the only thing I wish I had had in my fridge is a six pack of twisted tea. for those that dont know this wonderful malt beverage that goes down easily as water yet packs a 5.5% alcohol punch, on a summers day this is the beverage sent from God. even a beer snob like me can appreciate it. not to mention it comes in lemon, raspberry, and best of all peach iced tea flavors.yum!!

Kegerator - a pony keg of Yellowtail that we picked up at the local distributor last weekend and a questionable homeb brew of dark stout that both my husband and I are a little cautious of tasting.
Main fridge - some left over Guiness from the beer cheese I made for the OSU game last Saturday. GO BUCKS! Maybe we will have a taste off this weekend between the home brew and the Guiness.
Patio fridge - Tecate for the landscapers

My fridge right now has 3 bottles of Deschutes Obsidian Stout, a bottle of Unibroue Quelque Chose that I've been saving, although I'm going to drink it heated, so I don't know why its in the fridge and not the closet. I also have one bottle of Palo Santo Marron from Dogfish Head. This beer is a 12% abv, highly roasty, and malty brown ale aged on the Palo Santo wood. Apparently, I've been in the dark beer mood lately! Time to go restock!
Cheers!

Christina, I have some of that Dogfish Palo too, I like the smoky notes in it. Also have, Racer 5 (my favorite IPA), Stone's Bitter Chocolate Oatmeal Stout (everything chocolate is o.k. with me!!), some Russian lager in a can that a friend bought me, and two beers I brought back from New Zealand: Monteith's Summer Ale and Monteith's Winter Dopplebock. I've also stashed away some Firestone 11, saving it for a special occasion. Ladies, if we put together everything we have in our fridges, we could have one Kick-ass beer party!!

Ahh the life of a beer reviewer. I tend to shop where i can make mix 6 packs of things, and I get two of each that I'd like to try, or a large bottle. I had more in my fridge than I thought I had, and I also have a "waiting rack" of bottles that have yet to be made cold due to lack of fridge space. The short list of what's in my fridge (and what I'll be reviewing soon) is...

Southern Tier Imperial Pumpkin
Shipyard Blue Fin Stout
Weyerbacher Heresy
Brooklyn Brewery Hopfen Weisse
DFH Raison D'Extra
Weyerbacher Blithering Idiot
Strongbow Irish Cider
DFH Immort Ale
Sherwood Forest Brewing Company Sherrif's IPA
Harviestour Old Engine Oil Black Ale
DFH Punkin
St. Rogue Dry Hopped Red Ale
Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar
Unibroue 17
Rogue Shakespeare Stout
Laguntias Maximus IPA

Wooh I'm set for a while I think. Doesn't mean I wont pick up more interesting stuff if I run across it.

In the kitchen fridge there is Weyerbacher's Double Smincoe IPA (I don't recommend it, I think that is why it is still there!) and some homebrew from my husband's friend. In the bar fridge there are four back-up kegs of my hubby's homebrewed creations.

Recently finished a mixed 6-pack of Oktoberfest style beers so right now we have Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Red Stripe! :)

Nathalie - Totally agree about Twisted Tea! Reluctantly tried it (since I am not normally a fan of non-beer malt beverages) and ended up loving it!

Hi, I'm new here, and thought this would make a good first post to let people know what kind of beer chick I am! In my fridge right now is a RR Blind Pig, a Stone Ruination, a Moylan's Hopsickle, an Avery Maharaja, and a couple of homebrews from a friend. Also, here on my desk at work, and soon to go in my fridge, three Port Brewing Hop 15s and three O'dells IPAs. Obviously I'm a west coast type IPA/DIPA girl!!!
