Beer for Chicks

The new Sam Adams bulbous beer glass has been a big point of discussion amongst my beer drinking friends some of whom are appalled about the new beer glasses and some of whom think that its cool. What do you think? Have you seen them, have you had beer from them? Do you like them?

I personally don't like it. I have two at home that I scored from work, and I don't even like drinking water out of them let alone beer.

I think this glass is mainly a gimick. There is a lot of glassware out there that has existed for years and serves a very well intended purpose. Boston's glass misses the mark I think and has a lot of gimicky stuff to it, especially the fluting in the middle, it makes it operate like a yard of beer and makes it tough to drink.

The thing I find weird is the intentional little lip at the rim of the glass. For years wine glasses have gotten away from this because it 'splashes' the wine around the pallet, this is why Reidel glasses are so expensive (no lip at all, not even the one inherent to glassware manufacturing). Now, I understand that beer is not wine (thank god), but I want to be able to control what parts of my mouth taste what part of the beer.
