The Naked Pint: AWESOME Christmas gift! Also, a handful beers I've had recently

I am super excited to have received The Naked Pint as a Christmas present! By the time I hit the hay on Christmas night, I read the first 2 Chapters, and read the third yesterday. It has been fun to read, informative, and has made me even more excited about trying more beers!! My younger brother who gave it to me said that his mouth was watering flipping through it. I think I may stop and re-read some things, though, and try to taste and learn instead of getting too far ahead of my… Continue

Bruery Obsession: Orchard White vs. Black, Autumn Maple, and Saison Rue

So, it all started when my husband's friend came to town...
We met said friend at Father's Office in Culver City, since he was on a business trip and staying near LAX. Plus, he's apparently a major beer lover. That day, directly from the airport, this dude had driven to Orange County to visit The Bruery. He kept telling us, over Craftsmans at F.O., how great it was and how we should go for a tour and tasting. We smiled, but later discussed the vast improbability of driving to - God forbid - Oran… Continue

Last night at The Verdugo

I was not planning on going out last night, but when a friend who lives on that side of town invited me out to The Verdugo, I accepted-- after reading on Yelp that they had a great variety of beers. Just one more thing to make me wish I lived in Glassell Park, The Verdugo was delightfully quiet at 10 PM and the back patio, where we sat, almost empty. My husband and I were both pleased to see a few Craftsman beers on the menu, as we are both fanatical lately about that brewery. He had the Craftsm… Continue

Profile Information

Favorite Beers & Breweries
Craftsman Brewery, Pasadena: Triple White Sage (my current favorite); Ommegang: Rare Vos and Witte (which we had a keg of at my August wedding); Hitachino: nest white ale; New Belgium: fat tire, mothership wit and trippel; Chimay: any color; Unibroue: la fin du monde and Blanche de Chambly... all these nice belgians and belgian-style, white beers, etc...ah, yum!
Favorite Place to Drink Beer
a good friend's house, or mine. second best: any bar or restaurant that has lots of great microbrews on draught (Father's office, the York, and Pure Luck, which is actually a vegan restaurant). When I lived in Boston, I loved Bukowski's, and I still try to go there when I visit.
Best Beer Memory that You Can Remember!
When my college roommates started making homebrew. Another was the first time I tried the Craftsman Triple White Sage (at Pure Luck)
